Sedina & Biyi – Intimate civil ceremony, Oriental Hotel, Lagos.

Hi guys, I decided to blog about this wedding which I shot over a year ago, a wedding that is perhaps one of the most unique weddings I have ever had the pleasure of shooting. The ceremony had 120 guests. Yes 120 guests for a wedding in Nigeria…… YES! It all went down at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos. I can very well say that the bride and groom knew everyone present and there were no wedding crashers as it was strictly by invitation.

It was a DIY type of ceremony which seemed very strange to me until I realized that’s usually how wedding ceremonies are in European countries. Sedina is half Nigerian, half German and she wanted a ceremony just as she would have had it, had it held in Germany. The bride’s friends decorated the reception venue as well as the table setting with the help of some of the guys at Oriental Hotel.

One of the most memorable moments for me was the first dance by the couple. I expected some foreign song like most people have, but they danced to Brymo’s ‘Good morning’, which is still one of my favorite songs till date. It was a simple civil ceremony (what most people refer to as court wedding or registry) but it was loads of fun.

I decided to experiment in this post, by using different filters. As a disclaimer, these weren’t the pictures sent to the couple.

Enjoy a few images from the ceremony!
